What is the best solution to clean dog ears?

My dog has a bacterial infection in his ears. I have taken him to the vet and am using antibiotic ointment. However, I need to clean his ears between applications of the medicine. What brand or type of non-prescription ear cleansing solution works best. I have heard changing the pH by using an acidic solution works well on yeast but how about bacteria? Also any suggestions on your method of cleaning a squirming pooch?

I wouldn't really recommend using the type of ear solution you squirt in the ear as you run the risk of forcing the bacteria deeper in the ear. I personally use unscented baby wipes for ear cleaning as I have a dog that is allergic to every ear cleaning solution I have tried. If you are in doubt of what to use I would recommend asking your vet though he/she should have told you what to use if they told you to clean between applications
